Last updated 1200 Malaysian time, 0500 UK time 20th April 2010
Following an overnight review by the Met Office, UK National Air Traffic Services (NATS) has announced that restrictions will continue to remain in place in UK airspace until 1800 (UK time), Tuesday 20th April, at the earliest.
Although Stansted Airport had declared on Monday 19th April at 1500 (UK time) that the airport may be operational on Tuesday 20th April after 1900 (UK time), we understand that this may now change due to variable changes in the ash cloud. At the moment, AirAsia X is unable to confirm if D7 2006 & D72008 (Kuala Lumpur to London Stansted) and D7 2007 & D72009 (London Stansted to Kuala Lumpur) on 20th/21st April, 2010 will operate; this is subject to the full and permanent opening of the airspace.
We are keeping our flying schedule under constant review and will give you as much notice as possible once we receive more information from NATS.
If your flight has been affected by the earlier airspace restriction, please do not travel to the airport unless you are holding a confirmed booking for travel for the day the restriction is permanently lifted.
AirAsia X continues to monitor the UK & European airspace very closely and are in close touch with the authorities in those areas. We will provide further updates on future flights as soon as information is available. Please visit www.airasia.com regularly for latest updates relating to our future flights.
Guests booked on flights that have not operated from Kuala Lumpur to London Stansted and from London Stansted to Kuala Lumpur are able to transfer to our scheduled services up to and including 7th May 2010 subject to seat availability, at our call centre or at our nearest sales office/airport counters, or be offered a refund by writing in to aax_eu@airasia.com.
Although AirAsia X will be doing everything we can, to accommodate our guests needs, we understand there may still be further flight delays due to the backlog of flights from around the world. This situation is likely to continue for some days.
We are experiencing high call volumes at our call centre and emails to our Customer Care team as a result of the current flight disruptions, and we seek your understanding in the call waiting time and in replying to your emails. If your travel is not imminent, we ask that you please contact us at a later time.
